About the Tetanus Vaccine
Tetanus is a serious bacterial infection causing muscle stiffness and spasms. The vaccine is typically given as part of the UK routine immunisation schedule (DTP).

Vaccine Schedule & Administration
- Primary series: 3 doses as part of UK childhood immunisation (DTP).
- Boosters: Every 10 years, or after 5 years for high-risk wounds.
- Combination vaccines: Often given as DTP (diphtheria, tetanus, polio).
Common side effects:
Sore arm, mild fever, fatigue (1-2 days).
Who cannot have the vaccine?
- Those with severe allergic reactions to previous doses.
